Our Fascinating Body

This week, we explore the human body, with much song, dance and play. We cover body parts, facial expressions, and talk about how our bodies are just as beautiful on the inside as the outside.

There will be ten minutes of free play to start with so the children acclimatise to the environment and can socialise a little. This includes, lego, magna tile and other toys. We then move onto a group song and dance “Heads and Shoulders” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-PCV5rVv8oz. This should be familiar to most regular attendees and we hope they can dance along!

Body Parts!

We take a doll and talk about the different body parts and what they do. We will cover head, eyes, nose, mouth, arms, hands, stomach, heart, legs, feet, and point to each on our own body. Everyone has unique and beautiful differences too, like different eye colour and hair colour and styles. This helps make each of us special.
Learning outcomes: Children learn to identify and name body parts and begin to understand simple functions (e.g., “We see with our eyes”). They explore the concept of similarities and differences among people (in features like eye color, and hair color) to recognise diversity and develop an inclusive attitude from early on.

We take a look at the beautiful inside of a body. Our bodies are so amazing and all the different parts work as a team to give us life and let us do extraordinary things. We show a simple anatomy doll to allow children to see the wonders within, and read a book about taking care of our bodies and how important it is to visit the doctor when we are sick and to eat healthily.
Learning outcomes: Identifying one or two basic internal parts like the heart, to begin associating parts with functions (e.g., “heart goes bom-bom, lungs help us breathe!”). We talk about consequences,
